ARIM320

OVERVIEW

ARIM320 is small integrated Air-Data Inertial Reference Unit (ADIRU) capable of acquiring GPS, inertial rates, air-data and meteorological data.

Air-data measurements acquired by the ARIM320 include the following:

  • Pitot Pressure
  • Static Pressure
  • Angle-of-attack
  • Angle-of-sideslip
  • Temperature
  • Humidity

And, basic navigation measurements include:

  • GPS Position (Latitude, Longitude and Altitude)
  • GPS Velocity
  • Three-axis Accelerations (X, Y, Z)
  • Three-axis Rates (Roll, Pitch, Yaw)
  • Three-axis Magnetic Field (X, Y, Z)

The ARIM320 possesses high-performance digital signal processing capabilities to reduce sensor data in real-time. Data processing includes a proprietary Kalman Filter for GPS-inertial sensor integration, and an aerodynamic correction model for air-data. Processed output includes the following:

  • Static Pressure – corrected for position error (Ps)
  • Total Pressure (Pt)
  • Indicated Air Speed (IAS) / Altitude (IA)
  • Calibrated Air Speed – corrected for position error (CAS) / Altitude (CA)
  • True Air Speed – corrected for position error (TAS) / Altitude (TA)
  • Equivalent Air Speed (EAS) / Altitude (EA)
  • Angle of Attack – corrected for position error (AOA)
  • Angle of Sideslip – corrected for position error (AOS)
  • Total Air Temperature (TAT)
  • Outside Air Temperature – corrected for dynamic heating(OAT)
  • Impact Pressure
  • Aircraft Attitude (Roll, Pitch and Yaw)
  • Aircraft Inertial Velocity
  • True Heading (TH)
  • Coarse Heading (CH)
  • Rate of Climb (ROC)
  • Flight Path Angle (FPA)
  • Three-Dimensional Winds (vector components, horizontal speed / direction)

The ARIM320 MEMS-based air-data and inertial sensors, GPS hardware, and all analog and digital processing electronics are fully integrated into a small enclosure which can be easily mounted inside the fuselage of an airframe with the measurement boom protruding through the fuselage skin into the free stream flow, thereby providing an end-to-end measurement solution. Measured data is broadcast via a CAN Aerospace Serial Communications Interface.
